1. Arrival in Antananarivo: « the city of a thousand soldiers »

Tonga soa, welcome to Madagascar. Once arriving at the airport of Antananarivo, the team of bandro reisen will welcome you. After the formalities of entrance in the Malagasy land, you will be driven directly to your hotel. It will be your first night in Madagascar.

2. Antananarivo-Andasibe: the evergreen east

After a short tour in the centre of town of Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar, we will take the way directly to the east. The small village of Andasibe is located at approximately 140 km of the capital. The east is characterized by its green vegetation. The landscape is decorated by the chain of hills and rice fields, the image of the high plateau of Madagascar. On the way, we will see the daily life of the Malagasy people.

Before the dinner, we will go for an evening hike along the main road.

3. Andasibe: Mantadia national park

Today we will visit the National park of Mantadia, and will make a deep exploration through the primary forest, to discover the multiple and extremely interesting fauna and flora of Madagascar. With a little chance we could still find very savage species of lemurs in the forest.

After the midday rest, we will visit the private reserve of Vakôna. We have here the opportunity of mixing with the lemurs.

4. Andasibe – Antsirabe: Analamazaotra national park

The observation of the Indri- Indri is the high point of the visit of Analamazaotra.
The INDRIS are the greatest species of lemur in the world. Our park local guide will do the best to find these lemurs and show them to us. The INDRIS differ from the other species of lemurs thanks to their three various strong cries, which can be heard within a radius of 3km. Two hours excursion in the park will be rather tiring for each one of us. Other species of lemurs live here such as Diadem Sifaka, lemurs with brown and red belly. The place is also a real paradise for birds’ lovers.
After the excursion, we carry our way on to the east. The landscape is marked by the green vegetation. In Manambato, we take the boat to travel along the “channel of Pangalanes” to reach Akanin’ ny Nofy, literally translated “the Nest of dream”. “The Channel of Pangalanes” is an artificial channel, which has approximately 700 km long. It was created during the colonial period. It is particularly important for the local inhabitants for goods transportation. We get in a universe worthy of a fairy tale.

5. Akanin’ ny Nofy: palmarium reserve

After the breakfast, we will hike at the hotel park. Some species of lemurs also live here. Food’s ready! Take care to have bananas in the bag; otherwise the lemurs will not leave you quiet. A very good prospect is waiting for us on the mountain. Those who look for a haven of peace, they will be very happy finding it here.
Before the dinner, we will have an evening excursion in the “Aye-ayeIsland”. The Aye-ayes are rare species of nocturnal lemurs. We can observe them very closely on the island.

6. Akanin’ ny Nofy – Antananarivo: drive back

After crossing the channel, we’ll go back to Antananarivo. We can contemplate the green landscape of the region of Madagascar all along the way.

7. Flight Antananarivo – Taolagnaro

According to the proverb “every cloud has as silver lining” (after the rain comes the good weather). After our stays in the verdant East of Madagascar, we are going to live in a dry weather now. Taolagnaro or Fort Dauphin is in the extreme South East of Madagascar. On our arrival, we will be driven directly to the hotel. We could make a short tour of the city depending on the flight schedule.

8. Taolagnaro – Berenty: An area with three climatic zones

Taolagnaro is characterized by three different climatic zones:  wetland, climatic zone of transition and dry zone. The small village of Berenty is located at approximately 80 km in the south of Taolagnaro with a dry atmosphere.
We will stay in a private reserve. Here, the main attraction is the observation of Sifaka Larva or also called “the dancing lemurs”.

9. Berenty: Observation of the lemurs

We will do the excursion in a part of the forest galleries where we can find thorny plants and spend the whole day there. We can also observe other species of animals, particularly birds.

10. Berenty – Taolagnaro: drive back

Everyone is free in the morning but we can go and meet animals. We will be back to Taolagnaro in the afternoon.

11. Flight Taolagnaro – Antananarivo

Get back to Antananarivo. Transfer to the hotel.

12. Antananarivo: Visit of the Royal Palace of Ambohimanga

We will visit the Royal Palace of Ambohimanga in the morning. The palace is located at 21 km in the north of the capital. This Royal Palace belongs to the site of the UNESCO world heritage. It has not only a great historical significant for Madagascar, but also for the Malagasy a place for cultural festivals.

13. Flight Antananarivo – Europe: Welcome back home
